Vintage 1982 Specialized lugged Stumpjumper Mountain Bike. Many specialized collectors dream of owning this first lugged model year production. Definitely a head turner with cool bi-plane fork, very collectible bike! Vintage 1982 Specialized Stumpjumper. Basically the First production mountain bike. Brake levers and rear derailleurs had been swapped out at some point, but bike is pretty much all original. This was actually the bike I dreamed of when I was a kid but couldn’t ever afford it. This bike was from when mountain biking started. Bike rides like a dream. Not many miles on it but looks like rear derailleur was swapped out at some point. It should be a Suntour arx like front derailleur. Original wheelsmith built wheels, sealed bearing suzue hubs laced to Araya rims. Wheelsmith built wheels were coveted back then just as today. Bike has the M2 starting serial number as well. But if you look up original parts list on mombat site you will see all the parts on this bike! Down to the SR S-131 pedals. Seat tube 21.5” ctc Seat tube 22” ctt Top tube 23” ctc Geometry was much different back then, this bike my son can ride well enough and he’s 5’9” tall, I also can ride it comfortably at 6’1” There were only 500 of these made in 1982 and one is said to be in the Smithsonian. Very cool indeed. Bike has some surface rust which is very typical for a bike from this period. Definitely a cool item to add to your quiver of bikes! Any questions?
