This is a Survivor bike, a classic by it’s age, in like-new condition. It’s a Specialized Rock Hopper mountain bike, framed with a low top tube and, today, it is a classic and a survivor. This bike is effectively new old stock, because it hasn’t been ridden even as little as 5 miles. This is a 21 speed bike,18″ seat tube and the saddle is cushy…set up to be a cushy street bike but shod with tires for single track riding. There are quick releases on both wheels and the seat tube for fast changes and adjustment. I changed the stem and handle bars to help find a solution for my wife to ride it (I still have the original stem and bars and will include them with this bike), but she just couldn’t find a way to ride this bike that included enjoying the activity. She bought this bike in 1991 and I have taken care of it along with my bikes. You can see from the photos that the original tires show no wear (I left the cob-web for photo effect). I would put it on the stand and run it through the gears and brakes every few months or so and everything still works as it did when we brought it home from Albuquerque Schwinn. The aftermarket speedometer doesn’t move and so it is probably done…but it might just need the magnetic excitement over the sensor for awhile to get working again. As little as this bike has been ridden it has never been crashed nor even dropped, has always been kept in a garage and here in New Mexico, where a high humidity day is 30% or actually raining for a few hours, and usually 12 or 13% there is no rust on the steel frame. This is a quality bike and I have priced it to reflect the value of it’s unique status…though I might consider the best offer. I have listed this bike for local pickup for obvious reasons but I am willing to take it to a local Albuquerque bicycle shop for you, one that you chose and make arrangements with, to pack and ship at your expense. Albuquerque is a bicycle friendly town and there are several options.
