1983 Specialized Stumpjumper Sport. This was the first production mountain bike designed and made in the USA when that really meant something. The first year the Stumpjumper was released in 1981 was as a prototype and then was more widely available in 1982. This example is a 1983 equipped with an original slingshot style stem. Perfect for cruising around town in vintage/retro style or even exploring gravel fire roads. The steel frame has mounting points for front and rear racks, offering a utilitarian bike packing potential if you choose to go that route. As is, it’s an excellent all original styled example, similar to how you would buy it out the bike shop in 1983. Please note that the condition is used but it seems this bike has sat for the majority of its life. It has recently greased bottom bracket and headset.
